We’re In! The Force Is With Us

So there has been a bit of delay on updating the team’s website, I admit but as most of the team know I’ve been moving house so things have been a bit chaotic.

Anyhow I guess I should do a bit of a summary of what’s been going on.  Firstly a number of the fools got their week’s worth of early access before the hordes arrived on the official release date of 20th December 2011.

Most of the fools did get some early access time which is all good, okay there were some worrying queue time during that early access period.  Some in excess of 50 minutes, this caused a few members to ask “if it’s bad now, what’s it going to be like when the game is officially released?”.  Those concerns appear to have melted away as queue times are either non-existant on less than 15 minutes.  It’s a MMO launch, queues are kind of expected.

So team composition? well…..Jedi Consulars for the win!  As was to be expected the majority of the team has gone Jedi, with Jedi Consulars winning the ”See how many Consulars you can fit on a Wookie” competition. Next up is  the Jedi Knights followed by a small hardcore crew of non-force users of Troopers and Smugglers.  In terms of class role

  • 2 Tanks
  • 3 Healers
  • Shitloads of DPS :-P

So first impressions are that it was a smooth MMO launch.  A few bugs have been discovered but I’m sure these’ll be ironed out in the first patch.  Heroic Missions can be hard but that’s good ’cause umm they’re heroic (well unless you zerg them with higher level players).  Flashpoints are well designed and in my opinion have a epic Star Wars feel to them.

The storylines for the classes appear very immersive, and the fully voiced conversations just add to that.  Space combat may be fly by wire on a preset course but it’s a lot of fun and I would just play for the space battles to be honest.

Crew skills seem to be worthwhile at present in produced useful crafted items, only time will tell as we venture nearer the level cap of 50 if this remains the case.

Being able to send companions off to sell stuff, craft, gather adds a nice aspect to the game and reduces some typical MMO drudgery.  The economy of the game is still in it’s infancy, but there is stuff being listed on the Galactic Market so I’m sure some fools will work out how to make a credit or two!

All in all worthy of the hype, flawless MMO launch and in my opinion a refreshing reason to try another MMO other than that ‘one’ by Blizzard.

Bioware reveals early access details

For those of you that have pre-ordered Star Wars The Old Republic details have been released by Bioware regarding the Early Access programme.

Basically depending on when you pre-ordered you can expect a maximum of five days of early access before the official launch date of the 22nd December 2011.  With players being staggered onto the server over those five days.

New SWTOR Trailer: “Signs of War”

As the countdown ticks slowly to the 22nd December 2011.  Bioware have released a new trailer for Star Wars The Old Republic. The Signs of War trailer shows things are hotting up in the Star Wars universe.  This one looks to have been produced from using the ingame graphics than the previous eye candy film like ones.  Looks good, can’t wait and I just wish the counter would tick a bit faster! Sixty eight days away is like an eternity, anyway enjoy!
