Plus they’ve also found an excellent way to deal with other players that don’t want to join in and just grief the rest of the players.  Okay it’s 9 minute long but well worth it.

Anyways for those that are not up to speed there is a playable class in the game called the Spy. In my opinion a difficult class to play well, the spy can disguise himself as any member of the opposite team in a bid to sneak behind enemy lines and generally cause havoc. As well as being able to stealth himself for short period of time. Part of the Spy’s weaponary is the butterfly knife that can be used to deadly effect with one move in particular, the Backstab! This involves manoeuvring oneself behind your victim and then carrying out the fatal move. Not as easy as it first looks, well that is unless you get something to distract your unwilling victims. This player however appears to have found the perfect distraction to get his victims to stand still for a few moments whilst he moves in for the kill. Entitled “Hot Girl Backstabbing”, this is pure genius!

This evening marked a hallmark in BoF history where we managed to have a record 9 members on and able to participate in our first level 80 10 man raid : Naxxramas!

Naxxramas is an introductory level-80 raid dungeon floating above Dragonblight in Northrend. It is a Scourge necropolis, the seat of the lich Kel’Thuzad.

The original incarnation of the dungeon was regarded as the most difficult pre-Burning Crusade raid, requiring 40 well-equipped players to complete. In the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King expansion, Naxxramas was moved to Northrend and retuned as an entry-level raid dungeon for level 80 players. Like all other Wrath raid dungeons, Naxxramas has both 10-man and 25-man versions.

In true foolish style we jumped in 9 strong with amusing results. We made it to the 2nd boss – Heigan the Unclean, A Necromancer specialized in diseases and dancing. At which point we run out of time to try different tactics, however we were now aware that BoF’s foray into raiding isn’t quite going to be the walk in the park that some may have thought (in comparision to the heroics we have been completing on a regular basis !)

Anyway – with eyes now open and egos now in check we all look forward to tackling it again with the full 10 in attendance and seeing how far we get. For me this is when the really interesting work begins as a healer. Can’t wait !

Firstly Imarunnin alerted me to this great new trailer for the game, okay it’s a trailer and not game footage, but it still looks awesome. I think it also gives an indication that Force wielders are not going to be an all conquering set of classes. Which is good.

Then there are some interview videos that the people at G4.com had with Dallas Dickenson, Director of Production at Bioware. Details were given and shown on team play, travelling between planets which is really cool as you get your own star ship and the Sith Inquisitor class. Have a peek at the videos and see what you think.

As the majority of you fools are no doubt aware we have our own guild ventrilo server.  It’s a beautiful thing to behold and allows us to have mucheous banter and add a certain streak of humour to our game playing antics, whether that be WOW, Team Fortress 2, or more recently Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  Infact I think without it our gaming time would be a much lonelier place, I mean who uses the chat panel anyway?  I know a number of you use it as social hub too which is great.

However that time of year has come round again when I must ask you if you wish to reserve your Ventrilo slot for the next 12 months.  Yes it has it indeed been 12 months since I was last hassling you guys and girls.  Time flies when you’re having fun.  Anyway one year is nearly up, on the 27th June 2010 the Band of Fools’ Ventrilo server requires renewal. The guild has definitely got good use out of it and we’ve seen a lot of new faces join and leave through its lobby, most recently Trevsta and his crew of first person shooter friends have decided to join our server for shouting “GOGOGO!” and “Sniper on the hill” a lot at each other in the Bad Company 2 channel.

Credit to the people at www.typefrag.com, we’ve not really experienced any major issues with its use in the last 12 months.  Sound quality has again been excellent and I think I can only a few bit of downtime out of the twelve months.

I am therefore proposing to renewal the contract for a further 12 months and extend the slots from 15 to 20.  Our current member base is 19 and whilst I know we’ve not had login problems as yet, there have been a couple of occasions where we’ve been rather close to members not being able to connect.  As part of this proposal I will be expecting this year that guild members who wish to use this facility continue to contribute to its running cost in the form of an annual subscription.

The cost to secure your slot on the guild’s Ventrilo server for the next 12 months is estimated to be £2.43 (27.82 Swedish Kroner)  This cost is based on the current Sterling/US Dollar exchange rate dependent at time of renewal and assuming 16 members contribute.  Yes you read right two pounds and forty three pence for 12 months access to the Vent server.  I know the world is coming out of recession but that works out to be approximately 1 pence per day.  In my opinion frickin’ good value for money.

For those households that have two or more members but can only ever have one member on Ventrilo at once, then you will only need to pay for one slot reservation.  Should this change in the future then you will be expected to purchase an additional slot.

Can I please ask members who wish to reserve their slot on our ventrilo server to either send me an email at the following email address HIDDEN EMAIL (hidden to prevent spam, click on to reveal)  or show their interest on this forum post.  Please can you have this done by midday of Sunday 27th June 2010.

Once I know how many members are wanting reservations then I will calculate the final cost per user.  All guild members will then have until Sunday 4th July 2010 to pay their subs, after which time those members who do not wish to use the facility and hence have not paid their annual subscription will have their access removed.  Please be aware that if some guild members do not wish to use the facility then the annual cost per user will increase from the current estimate of £2.43, on the flip side if all 19 members wish to renew the price will come down.

Payment will be to myself via Paypal in Pound Sterling.

That ethos has remained at the core of our team and continues to do so. In fact it’s probably the main reason why the Band of Fools has survived so well and continues to grow at a steady gradual rate in terms of members, where some guilds have long since bitten the dust.

That original group of BOF players has now grown to include new members. These new members have usually been friends that have been persuaded to come game with the Fools. Others have been found ingame through the social side of the game with some even finding our website via google.

New real life friendships formed and in some cases relationships too! Some names have retired, some have retired and come back but there is no real expiry date of being a member of the band of fools. All of our new members have fitted in with the BOF playstyle and I think in many instances (no pun) have enjoyed the way we do things. No drama queens, no “FFS” every other sentence. Just people who want to relax and game.

So where am I going with this? Well the Band of Fools has the potential to enter into something new, due to member numbers we now have enough players to contemplate doing 10-man raids. The guild now has enough active, unique players to look at the next step in MMO gaming, the endgame. Now I realise some members of the Band of Fools have already seized the initiative and stepped into this arena; I salute you for this. Some members are indeed raid veterans. Roxx looking at you here! But as a team this is new territory. Higher expectations, more demanding content, but more potential fun.

I know some players are still on their way to 80 and some are gearing themselves up by doing heroic 5-mans. So yes this is not going to happen over night or even next week. I want to find out which of you lot would be interested in some 10-man raids. Now I’m not talking some hardcore shit of doing them 5+ times a week. Some organisation will of course be required. However for now I just want to know who’s interested.
