So you’ve stumbled your way in cyberspace and come across this website, and now you’re wondering where on Earth you are. Well welcome to the Band of Fools’ guild website, here you will find out about a small social online gaming team.
We’re currently active in Blizzard’s Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game World of Warcraft.

How it started
So you want to know a bit more about the Band of Fools? Well the guild was set up on Laughing Skull (EU) server as a social guild in 2006 by some UK Fools that met through the MMO game, World of Warcraft (WOW). Some of these Fools had been playing WOW for a while and were friends or work mates, who then mentioned the game to some of their friends to try. This then snowballed and before long a small gang of people were playing together. Now obviously this group needed a name, hence the Band of Fools was formed.
Why the name?
Well it goes along with the founding members’ game playing attitude. Not that they are foolish (well not too often) but more that they play MMOs for fun, they don’t take things too seriously, have some good banter on the Ventrilo© server and don’t have a temper tantrum when the guild gets wiped; though this usually involves blaming the Dwarf for no other reason than he’s a Dwarf!
Band of Fools’ Ethos
In no particular order, here’s what is means to play as a member of the Band of Fools:
- To have fun.
- To enjoy the game.
- To have a relaxed, friendly gaming experience
- To help out your guildies – when they’ve got ganked, quests, dungeons, the usual – pathetic excuses may be given when a guildy wants help in infamous MMO ganking areas such as WOW’s Stranglethorn Vale.
- Not to take MMOs too seriously, they’re a game after all.
- Did I mention to have fun whilst playing?
- Not to pick on the Edge’s characters too much, Ima’s should get some attention too!
- Okay so you made a mistake that caused:
- A Wipe.
- The Mage to die.
- The Mage to die whilst he was picking herbs.
learn from it and go give whatever you were doing another go. Where’s the fun if you beat the game every time, first time? We pay our subscription each month to have a challenge once in a while surely!

Which Realm do you play on?
World of Warcraft
In World of Warcraft the Band of Fools plays on the Ragnaros (EU) server. This is player versus player (PVP) server, we play on the side of the Alliance. Odysseia is the Band of Fools’ Guild Leader in World of Warcraft.
Dungeons, Raiding and Quests
The majority of our members are in their 80s so cruising around Northrend is where most of our players spend much of their gametime. Because we are a casual gaming guild we’re mostly doing 5-man heroic instances.
Whilst Raiding is something our members would give a go, we’re a small, compact guild so 10 man raids such are still on the horizon. We’re hopefully going to give our first 10-man raid a go very soon. However we must stress we’re not a hardcore raiding guild.
If a member needs help in doing a quest then usually someone is close by to lend a hand. Most often or not when a few people are online, then members will ask what the plan is for the evening. This is the time to recruit assistance for that quest that has sat in your quest log for the past 2 months.
